Contract No. N32205-98-D-0008
Military Sealift Command operates a fleet of diverse ships,
worldwide in support of the United States Armed forces. In order for
MSC to fulfill its mission, it is imperative that these ships be
maintained in a high state of material readiness.
One area of ongoing concern is the calibration, repair and/or
replacement of gauges, meters and thermometers used to monitor
machinery performance. Gauges may be of the vacuum, compound,
duplex, differential or simplex pressure types. Meters may be of the
alternating or direct current types or those used to measure or
monitor fluids or horsepower. Thermometers may be bimetallic, liquid
in glass or remote reading types.
MSC is establishing a contract to facilitate calibration, repair
and/or replacement of gauges, meters and thermometers. These repairs
or replacements will be performed on an as needed basis when the
ships) is/are in the Hampton Roads Virginia Area (Norfolk, Hampton,
and Newport News), the port Canaveral, Florida area, the Charleston,
SC and the Baltimore, Maryland area.
Calibration of gauges, meters and thermometers will be done "In
Place", i.e. aboard the ship. Repairs and/or replacement of
gauges, meters and thermometers will be conducted either "In
Place" i.e., aboard the ship or "Shop Repaired",
i.e., at the contractor's facility. It should be noted that
"Shop Repair" will still require some work to be performed
on the ship. Delivery Orders, when issued to the contractor, will
identify the individual gauges, meters and thermometers to be
calibrated / repaired / replaced.
